People wearing "Fair Tax" buttons filled the senate committee room in support of Republican Representative Ed Emery's bill that would get rid of income tax, but raise sales tax.

Emery said the measure would attract businesses to Missouri, generating revenue.

Description: "This is probably the most powerful economic development instrument that has been considered by the legislature in the seven years that I have been here."

Carrie Shapton, an advocate for child care, opposes the bill saying if sales tax is raised on services such as child care people will go out of state.
