Wrap: We've all gotten them...

You sit down to dinner, and...

NATS - RINGING

A campaign's automated "robo" call interrupts.

Carnahan says she can't control what Democratic groups will do on her behalf.

But she says her campaign isn't using any of those robo calls.

Actuality:  CARNA4.WAV
Run Time:  00:05
Description: "I can't control everything that everybody does, but I can control my campaign, and I don't anticipate doing any of those."

Carnahan says Vice President Joe Biden will make a campaign stop for her in Springfield next month.

Carnahan says she doesn't know why Biden praised other Democrats but didn't mentioned her at a St. Louis event in August.

Wrap: Even before cooler fall weather came to Missouri, Carnahan was already attacking her opponent, Republican U.S. Representative Roy Blunt, as the "worst of Washington."

When asked why she wasn't using campaign funds for positive ads, Carnahan responded...

Actuality:  CARNA2.WAV
Run Time:  00:09
Description: "Kind of reminds me of Harry Truman, who said "I don't give 'em hell. I just give 'em the truth and they think it's hell.' I think it's important that we know what my record is and Congressman Blunt's record as well."

Carnahan says she hasn't paid much attention to polls that show she's trailing Blunt...

...And that she won't change her strategy.

The most recent Real Clear Politics poll average shows Carnahan is down by 6 percent.

Wrap: Carnahan says small businesses create 60 percent of jobs in Missouri.

But she says helping small businesses isn't the focus in Washington.

Actuality:  CARNA1.WAV
Run Time:  00:13
Description: "In Washington, what they need to be doing is changing their priorities. Up to now, it feels like everything's focused on those that are too big to fail. To me, those are the folks that had all the risky behavior and got us into this mess in the first place."

Carnahan also deflected criticism over her use of attack ads against her opponent, Republican U.S. Representative Roy Blunt.

She says both candidates should be prepared to defend their records.

Wrap: The latest Real Clear Politics poll average says Carnahan trails Republican U.S. Representative Roy Blunt by 6 percent.

She says she's not looking.

Actuality:  CARNA5.WAV
Run Time:  00:08
Description: "We don't spend a lot of time looking at those polls. Missouri's always a close race, a close election. I think this will be, too."

Her campaign could've gotten a boost from Vice President Joe Biden in August, but he didn't mention Carnahan at all at an event in St. Louis.

Carnahan says she can't explain that.

But she says Biden will be in Springfield next month at one of her events.
