Wrap: The list of finalists is down to four after the Missouri Gaming Commission threw out a Kansas City-area proposal.
The company, Sunway Gaming, refused comment.
After Sunway got the boot, two of the four remaining proposals are for St. Louis-area casinos.
One company wants to build a gambling center near Chain of Rocks Bridge in northern St. Louis.
Another developer wants a casino in the North St. Louis County suburb of Spanish Lake.
Those developers say they'd create hundreds of jobs.
They're competing against bids in Cape Girardeau and a Kansas City suburb.

Wrap: The two St. Louis area proposals are still in the running.
The Missouri Gaming Commission has thrown out Sunway Gaming's application.
Sunway wanted to build in a Kansas City suburb.
A commission spokeswoman says its application was incomplete.
The remaining list includes a gambling center in St. Louis, and another in the St. Louis County suburb of Spanish Lake.
The commission has scheduled a public hearing in St. Louis for Sept. 28.
The two other applicants want to build in Cape Girardeau and the Kansas City suburb of Sugar Creek.
