Senate debates what new tax is

Intro:  A plan to collect sales tax on Internet purchases ran into a major glitch in the Senate Monday.

Wrap: The debate descended into comebacks and name calling.

One conservative Republican, Jason Crowell of Cape Girardeau, called another conservative Republican a "tax-and-spend liberal."

Joplin Senator Gary Nodler was on the receiving end of that insult.

He and Crowell argued whether the bill would create a new tax for Missourians.

NODLER: "This bill doesn't create any new taxes nor-"

CROWELL: "Yes, it does."

NODLER: "No, it doesn't."

CROWELL: "It certainly does."

Crowell's filibuster prevented the bill from moving forward.
