Bartle gets final go ahead for sex shop bill

Intro:  The senate voted to regulate smut shops just days after a Federal grand jury hearing involving pay-for-play contributions by Missouri sex shop kingpins.

Bartle sponsored a similar bill five years ago - which is currently under investigation after a campaign committee with ties to former house speaker Rod Jetton r

eceived a 35 thousand dollar donation from the adult entertainment industry.

Bartle says the events were not coordinated and the bill is a long way from being done.

Wrap: The Senate gave first-round approval to a bill that places heavy restrictions on the adult entertainment industry.

This comes just days after Lee's Summit Republican Senator Matt Bartle testified before a federal grand jury about a similar 0-5 bill.  

Bartle sponsored both bills, and he said the events are coincidental.

The only opposition came from Kansas City Democratic Senator Jolie Justus - she offered an unsuccessful amendment to exclude Kansas City from the legislation.
