Wrap: A Kansas City public defender will represent 22-year-old Casey Brezik.
He's charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action for stabbing a college dean last week.
The Associated Press reports a judge entered a not guilty plea on Brezik's behalf.
A spokeswoman for the public defender's office says that's "routine."
Nixon, who was minutes away from Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City when the stabbing occurred, has said he wasn't scared by the threat.
News reports indicate Brezik was disappointed to learn he stabbed the dean and not the governor.
