Wrap:

The state claims 79 percent of Missourians have access to broadband, but only about 50 percent are active subscribers.

Governor Nixon says his goal is for 95 percent of Missourians to have broadband available by 2014.

Actuality:  BROADB1.WAV
Run Time:  00:12
Description: "Ensuring access to broadband to every school and every business and every hospital and every public safety agency is not a luxury for the future. It's a necessity to keep our economy moving forward."

In order to compete for the federal funding to support Missouri broadband expansion, Nixon established a public-private initiative two years ago.

Now, Missouri has 261 million dollar to award grants to broadband providers.
