Intro:
After more than 30 percent of Social Service workers played hookey Tuesday the Department refuses to comment on the absences.

Wrap:  I'm standing outside the Department of Social Services after the Communications Director would not provide an interview about the 40 state workers who openly admitted to skipping work on Tuesday.

The missing workers came from the St. Louis regional office.

The Communications Director, Seth Bundy would not talk to me, after exchanging several emails.

Bundy says he knows no information other than that 40 workers called in sick.

Due to consolidation of offices and budget cuts one social service worker has to deal with three hundred and seventy five more families than before, according to FOX news.

Reporting from the Department of Social Services in Jefferson City, I'm Becky May, Newsradio 1120 KMOX.
