Missouri legislators discuss the recent weather disasters

The Missouri House took a moment of silence and personal prayer Tuesday after Representative Steve Hodges updated the body on the flooding in Southeast Missouri.

Wrap: The Army Corp of Engineers have a protocol to explode the levy at Bird Point In Southeast Missouri once it execeds a certain point.

Representative Steve Hodges says that if plans of detonation continues, it will not only ruin the fertile ground, but lives of Missourians.

Flooding was not the only weather probelm discussed in the Missouri legislature, but also the tornados that hit St.Louis last Friday.

In the Senate, St. Louis County Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal spoke of a family that got into their basement six seconds before the tornado hit their house.

The tornado ranked as an F4 on the Fujita scale, one of the most severe classifications.

The Army Corp of Engineers makes plans to place explosives on the Bird Point levey while Attorney General Chris Koster asks a federal judge to stop it.

The Army Corp of Engineers will explode the levy if the heavy rains continue.

Hodges says the flooding will be disasterous to the farmland.

While rains continue in the southern part of the state, the Senate discussed last Friday tornadoes in St. Louis.

St. Louis County Senator Jane Cunningham says thought there were no casuaities, the storm ruined many neighborhoods.
