Description: "We have no interest in owning a distributorship in the state of Missouri." |
That was Anheuser Busch representative John Britton testifying in front of the Senate General Laws committee.
He is in opposition of a bill attempting to prohibit beer distributors from buying wholesalers.
He says the bill, sponsored by Republican Jefferson City Senator Mike Kehoe, would only hurt business if the wholesaler needed to sell and no one, but a distributor would buy.
Two beer wholesalers testified in favor --- saying the bill would protect customers and give the consumer more options.
Because third party wholesalers are not only promoting a single distributor.
If passed through the committee, the bill will head to the full Senate.
