Wrap: Normally the Senate must wait one day to vote on the floor after a committee hearing, but the Senate suspended this rule to push forth legislation changing the candidate filing period.

Since Missouri lost one U.S. house district in the 2010 census, the Missouri Supreme Court is debating the newly drawn legislative districts.

The boundaries are still unknown for U.S. house districts, and the Missouri House and Senate districts.

Senator Jim Lembke says some will be in limbo over unknown districts.

Actuality:  LEMBKE1.WAV
Run Time:  00:08
Description: "Somebody who's waiting to see what their Senate district is going to be, has to sit back and wait until they actually get a map."

The filing period currently begins February 28th, but this legislation would push the date back one month.

Wrap: The Missouri State Senate suspended chamber rules Wednesday to push through a bill changing the state's candidate filing period.

Since Missouri lost one U.S. house district in the 2010 census, the Supreme Court is currently debating newly drawn districts.

The boundaries are still unknown for not only U.S. house districts, but also both the Missouri Senate and House districts.

Senator Scott Rupp says he's not sure the filing date should be changed for all of these elections.

Actuality:  RUPP01.WAV
Run Time:  00:13
Description: "If you're thinking about running, it's in your head. So you'll know on February 28th so you can go ahead and file for something else, and then go back and change your mind. Then file for the state senator or state representative, depending what the maps are."

This legislation would push the filing period start date back one month to March 27th.
