Gubernatorial candidates spar over Mamtek

On the same day that Gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence accused Nixon's administration of spending state money on the failed Mamtek artificial sweetener factory...Nixon is fighting back.

Wrap: Only a few hours after Spence's comments, Nixon says his administration gave no money to the failed project...but he didn't stop there.

He called out Spence for his role as a board member with Saint Louis-based Reliance bank.

But on his website Spence says Nixon's claim is misleading because the board voted to delay payment back to the government AFTER being advised by federal regulators.

That was Gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence speaking at the site of the failed Mamtek artificial sweetener factory...a project he says is indicative of the Nixon administration...a lot of show and no go...

But only a few hours later, Nixon fought back saying the state gave no money to the project and quickly changed the subject to Spence's record as a board member with Saint Louis-based Reliance Bank.
