Description: Chappelle-Nadal: "What are you doing differently to have a number one success story? I've not heard of one yet." Nicastro: "I'm sorry, what district are you referring to?" Chappelle-Nadal: "It doesn't matter. The entire state." |
After St. Louis County Democratic Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal questioned Commissioner of Education Chris Nicastro several times Nicastro said she thought the St. Louis school district would eventually become a success story.
Chapelle-Nadal says the Wellston School District shut down in 2010 after a state takeover because of mismanagement.
Supporters of the bill that would allow state takeover immediately following school's losing accreditation say the measure would give more options to the state.
