Chappelle-Nadal says she supports the measure, but started to filibuster after lawmakers shot down an amendment she offered. She says her amendment would have made it more balanced to her inner-city constituents by clarifying the active role of law enforcement officers.

Chappelle-Nadal says Republicans only wanted to pass the bill to protest gun control measures supported by President Barack Obama.

Wrap: The bill would put before voters an amendment to the constitution that Republican Senator Kurt Schaefer says would clarify to Missouri lawmakers their duty to protect 2nd amendment gun rights.

Chapelle-Nadal tried to introduce an amendment that she says would have clarified the language for her inner-city district, but it was rejected by Schaefer and other Senate Republicans.

Chapelle-Nadal used her filibuster to read off the names of gun violence victims.
