Wrap: Booze would be sold inside of the Missouri Capitol if the House and Senate can muster the votes for a veto override.

The bill would allow alcohol to be sold at special events, such as the Capitol's centennial celebration, and in the former state penitentiary. Proponents argue that the liquor sales would generate additional funds for Capitol restoration and maintenance.

Gov. Jay Nixon cited concerns about the message that alcohol sales would send to children and families visiting the Capitol and vetoed the bill earlier this year.

In his veto letter, the governor said that the sale of alcohol inside of the Capitol was not among the issues that taxpayers expect their elected representatives to address.

The only way the bill can pass now is if two-thirds of both the House and Senate vote for a veto override during the veto session on September 10.
