Wrap: Democratic Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal says she hopes her amendment will make a statement to the commissioner about being upfront with information to legislators.

The amendment eliminates the Department of Education Commissioner Chris Nicastro's salary from the state budget.

Republican Senator David Pearce expressed concerns about a possible repercussion of the amendment.

Run Time:  00:11
Description: So what would happen if there was a vacancy this upcoming year and then we had a new commissioner that was brought in? This money would not be there for a new commissioner.

However, the amendment's statement got support from Republican Senator Kurt Shaefer, who said he agrees with some of her frustrations with government agencies.
