Wrap: Jefferson County Representative Dan Shaul said the measure is necessary to make Missouri a business-friendly state.

The measure was brought up with half an hour before the end of session, and debate ended after a single representative spoke on the measure.

Opponents said the bill would contradict a similar bill two years prior, which allowed St. Louis City to raise its minimum wage over the state's.

The House approved the measure with one-hundred and eight votes yes and forty-two no.

Description: Them entry-level jobs is how we get by. Because we don't have that option to go here or go there.

Supporters said the measure would make Missouri more business-friendly with a universal minimum wage.

The General Assembly approved enforcing a statewide minimum wage in 2015, but allowed localities to approve an increase in a limited time. St. Louis City was the only locality to approve a higher minimum wage.
