HB 1781 Sponsor:Nasheed, Jamilah Status: H Elections Description: Re-enact a requirement that a person be blocked from filing for elective office if there are unpaid campaign finance violation fines or fees. The provision had been in a bill passed in 2010 in SB 844 that was struck down by the state Supreme Court in February 2012.

* HCS HJR 41 Sponsor:Nasheed, Jamilah Status: S 3rd Read (IN BUDGET) Description: Extend legislative term limits from a maximum of eight years service in a chamber to a maximum of 16 years in a chamber. The HCS keeps the current 16-year limit for legislative service, but allows all 16 years to be in one chamber. The current voter-approved provision limits a person to no more than eight years in the Senate and eight years in the House, with an extra term allowed for persons elected to fill a vacancy in the second half of the term.
