Missouri is one step closer to implementing those new auto-emissions tests designed to cut down on pollution. Lee McGuire is in Jefferson City with more.
By the spring of 2000, drivers in St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson and Franklin Counties will have to take their cars in for an emissions test every two years.
The Department of Natural Resources has announced it's accepting bids from private companies to build the inspection stations that would conduct the tests.
Department spokesperson Nina Thompson says those new tests are more advanced then the current system.
These tests will be in addition to the annual safety check that's already required by law. Lee McGuire, KMOX News, Jefferson City.
