The director of Missouri's state emergency management agency says the flood of 1993 helped prepare residents for future flooding. Lee McGuire is in Jefferson City with more.
According to Jerry Uhlmann, the Great Flood of 1993 taught Missouri some valuable lessons about preparedness.
Following the 1993 flood, the state purchased land in flood zones and moved more than four thousand homes and businesses out of flood-prone areas. Uhlmann says that buyout has helped limit damage when area rivers jump their banks. In Jefferson City, Lee McGuire, KMOX News.
