Legislative leaders react to Carnahan's Senate aspirations

intro: Governor Carnahan's announcement that he plans to run for John Ashcroft's Senate seat drew partisan responses from the new leadership of the state legislature, as Lee McGuire reports from Jefferson City.

The Governor's plans to run for the U.S. senate may give state republicans even more incentive to advance their legislative agenda.

House minority leader Delbert Scott says Republicans expect Carnahan's run will be a political distraction:
