Missouri Republicans Criticize Carnahan Mailings

September 24, 1998
By: Curtis Holden
State Capital Bureau

Missouri Republicans are accusing Governor Carnahan's administration and Missouri Democrats of forcing Missouri taxpayers to pay for propoganda mailing less than two months before November elections.

Curt Holden reports from Jefferson City.

Governor Carnahan and his administration have enclosed constitutionally required Handcock Amendment refund checks and messages crediting the administration's tax relief efforts in the same envelopes.

Missouri Republican Party Spokesperson Daryl Duwe says the Carnahan administration and Missouri Democrats should themselves pay for mailing their own propoganda.

the mailings.
