Republican Senate leaders voted with Democrats to pass a resolution that allows them to increase their salaries

After a long series of debate the Senate passed a bill that could allow their payraises to go into effect.

The Republicans are poised to take control of the Missouri Senate and today on a vote over payraises for lawmakers and judges Republican Senate leaders voted with Democrats to allow the payraises to occur.

Contents: He says that vote was a sign that yesterday's election wasn't a sign that votes will now follow party lines. Each Senator will examine each issue and vote on their own.

The resolution the Senate approved, allows payraises to occur subject to appropriation. The resolution seeks to limit increases so that they don't exceed payraises for other state employees. But, the resolution's sponsor Marvin Singleton questioned the constitutionality of that effort, saying it in effect allows payraises.
