One million dollars worth of tax refunds undeliverable to Missouri taxpayers

The IRS is waiting for over a million dollars to be claimed by Missouri taxpayers. Megan Clarke has the story.

The Internal Revenue Service says it's unable to deliver tax refund checks worth one-point-two million dollars to 25-hundred Missouri taxpayers.

THE MAIN REASON THAT CHECKS ARE UNDELIVERABLE ARE BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T CHANGE THEIR ADDRESS WITH THE POST OFFICE OR THE IRS.

Besides general tax refunds, the list also includes additional advance child tax credit checks. The IRS mailed almost 24 million payments this summer after Congress increased the child tax credit from $600 to $1,000.

To receive an unclaimed check, Missouri taxpayers need to notify the IRS of a new address through their web site or telephone.
