The House of Representatives voted down a bill that would change the name of Southwest Missouri State to Missouri State University. Darryl Franklin has more from the Capitol.
In the Senate the name change has been sponsored by President Pro Tem Peter Kinder. Despite today's vote, Kinder thinks the chances of a name change including the bonds for MU will go through.
"We have 27 votes out of 34 at least, possibly more in the Senate, and I'm still optimistic."
Democrats charge that the Senate GOP leaders are pushing the name change to get campaign contributions from Southwest Missouri State alums.
