Fast lane bill would keep trucks to the right

Dolan is sponsoring a bill that would make it illegal for trucks to drive in the left-hand lane on highways six lanes or wider.

Dolan says trucks slow down traffic.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says it supports the bill.

A Missouri Senate bill prohibits large trucks from driving in the left lane on highways six lanes or wider.

State Senate Transportation Committee Chairman Jon Dolan, the bill's sponsor, says the Highway Patrol would enforce the law.

Contents: "When they see traffic backed up coming off the St. Charles bridge-5 lanes, two 18-wheelers-or vehicles, 48,000 pounds and above, in the far left lane of a five to six lane highway- they're gonna go pull that person over."
