JEFFERSON CITY - Alice Bartlett, 61, of Chilicothe, will replace former employer represetative Bill Foster on the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission.

"I am very excited about this wonderful new challanege. I am looking forward to getting to work." Said Bartlett.

Gov. Blunt said this appointment is in conjunction with his worker's compensation reform, and Bartlett will bring new perspective.

This is Bartlett's first state appointment.

"I think there's some benefit,to bringing people in without a government background to committee," Blunt said, "And I think that Alice has the experience to be an asset to this commission."

Bartlett left a 12-year stint as a human resources manager for the Wire Rope Corporation of Amercia this January, citing differences in "operating philosophy."

"A decision was made to make a management change," said Bartlett, "fortunately it worked out great, I have this wonderful opportunity here."

Bartlett will join already confirmed committee chair, William Ringer, and employee representative John Hickey.

Worker's Compensation reform has been a much-debated topic in the state Legislature, which went to house committee on Wednesday.

The new legislation proposes several cuts in worker's compensation benefits to employees, which Blunt has said are some of the highest in the nation.

"I obviously felt a need for change." Blunt said.
