An amendment that was passed in the House could prevent people with mental health problems from buying guns.

In Missouri, mental health records could be reported for the State Highway Patrol to check through NICS, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

The sponsor of the amendment is Republican representative Brian Munzlinger.

He admitted that the Virginia Tech shooting had a lot to with creating his amendment.
