Legislators are fed up with the amount of sexual misconduct in Missouri schools.
Republican Representative Jane Cunningham says a main purpose for the bill she is sponsoring is to protect victims who are too scared to protect themselves.

|Description: They are scared to death and it takes them years, sometimes decades to ever come forward about this. So we've also removed the statute of limitations because sexual misconduct between a teacher and a child is never casual sex.|
The bill also requires annual background checks for school employees.
A study by the Associated Press shows that Missouri is the eleventh worst state in the country for cases of sexual misconduct committed by educators.
