Reed Erickson reports from the state house.
Senator Luann Ridgeway didn't succeed in convincing colleagues on the Senate floor to stop a filibuster.
Ridgeway's bill would make it legal for motorcyclists over the age of 21 to ride without a helmet.
During floor discussion amendments requiring helmets for those riding in convertibles, riding pedal bikes on highways, even skydivers were proposed. None of the changes passed.
Senators Chuck Graham and Luann Ridgeway.

Do you plan to filibuster the bill?
Well that's a direct answer and I appreciate that, but all the work that we've done you're not willing to at least give these people a vote?
One amendment to the bill proposed by Graham would make it law for the Speaker of the House to wear a helmet while in the capitol on the last three days of the legislative session.
That amendment was defeated, and the Helmet bill, stalled, was set aside.
